Symptom: Migraine

A Manila bookmark has been transformed by jagged abstract red ink drawing. It is a bursting, intense combination of thick and thin lines which center in on where the person on the bookmark’s head would be. The lines are jutting and stabbing, and expand across the entire page in waves upon waves of further pointed abstract red textures. Upon closer inspection the words “symptom: migraine” are visible in the memo section between the intense sharp patterning. A figure of a human comes out from the texture as well below, a blurry outline with tension in the body, including unevenly but very raised shoulders, slightly splayed arms, and their head lowered and angled slightly to the side. Unlike the other bookmarks on this blog, this one’s art does not stay confined to the section with the body, the intense red abstract angular patterns overtake the entire page including the memo section, the tab at the top, and borders.
