this is what long covid feels like [CW: body horror illustration, occasional art nudity]

Symptom: Gender Dysphoria

A drawing of a human on a manila bookmark. The human‘s body is full of countless intersecting, ultrathin deep blood red lines. Insert in areas the red turns brownish, yellow green, very visceral and anatomical. The lines fill the body with an abstract scribble-like pattern, but an attentive eye will notice some detail details: that they radiate out from the pelvis, the chest, and upwards across the face. They contour to the body’s different forms subtly.
The background is a cool gray grid, which, as it becomes closer to the person begins to distort: warp and smudge and blur and almost chromatic-aberration like separation of colors.
At the top in thick, somewhat uneven red capital letters is “Symptom: Gender Dysphoria”

“This art project smacks of gender!”

Yes, because Long Covid is a Trans Issue. (Links to info page from the excellent Long Covid Justice.)

“My early readers have told me that this blog has a serious case of gender. I think ALL blogs have a serious case of gender; I consider my disability to have a serious case of gender, and I’m not alone in… the disability of gender (these words have stopped having meaning as I type them).”
