this is what it feels like [CW: illness, body horror illustration]

2024_3_25 Electrical Diagnostic of nerve pain. Historical external popliteal nerve issues only, Thankfully.

Figure printed on a manila bookmark, colored with ink to have a peach hospital gown, open in the back. Their brain's two lobes and spine are drawn in purple. Radiating from the spine are many nerves. The one in the figure's left foot is splintered into fragments from historical trauma and reconstructive surgeries.

One of the few tests to come back normal which I’m wholeheartedly happy to receive.

A lot of folks with chronic illness, including me, can have mixed feelings about “normal” test results since we would like answers, treatments, and validation for what we know feels “wrong” in our bodies. However in this case, I am delighted to chalk my nerve pain up to poor blood flow to my peripheries rather than actual damage.

@illmarks I know the feeling of being gutted by "normal" test results. It so often means more tests, or doctors giving up on me because they decide my illness isn't real (as opposed to, you know, testing on the wrong day or testing for the wrong thing). :blobcathearthug: but some tests you really want to be negative. Glad to hear this, definitely a good thing!
